Job description

We’re looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join our dedicated team and help provide a safe, supportive environment where every student can thrive. The school is a dynamic and nurturing special school for students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

What you’ll do:

  • Support pupils in managing their behaviour and developing positive coping strategies.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support with engaging, inclusive lessons.
  • Build trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
  • Contribute to behaviour plans and interventions tailored to individual needs.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured environment across the school day.

About you:

  • You’re calm under pressure and able to de-escalate challenging situations with empathy.
  • You’re a great communicator, able to build rapport and set firm, fair boundaries.
  • You will have experience in education, youth work, or a related field.
  • You’re a team player with a positive attitude and a reflective approach to your own practice.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
