Job Title: Behaviour Mentor

Location: Blackburn, Lancashire

Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Salary: Competitive (reflective of experience and responsibilities)


About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to support pupils in a school setting in Blackburn. This temporary role involves working closely with students who may display challenging behaviour, helping them to engage positively with their learning and school environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural needs
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Support pupils in developing social and emotional skills
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour


Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (school or similar setting preferred)
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A valid DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)


Desirable

  • Experience in a school, PRU, or alternative provision
  • Understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Youth Work, Psychology, Education)
