Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist alternative provision in Blackburn to recruit a Behaviour Support Worker to start immediately.

This provision supports pupils across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced disruption to their education. The setting offers a nurturing, structured environment, with small class sizes and a strong focus on building positive relationships and re-engaging students in learning.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:

• Support pupils displaying challenging behaviour on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Help students regulate emotions and access learning
• Use de-escalation strategies to manage behaviour effectively
• Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
• Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, behaviour challenges, or in alternative provisions (desirable)
• Resilient, patient, and calm under pressure
• Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills
• Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners
• Available full-time and able to start ASAP
