Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time (term-time options available)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team in the Blackburn area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people who may display challenging behaviours, helping them to engage positively with their learning and development.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom, promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural needs
  • Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and individual support plans
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating in school activities
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships and act as a role model
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided)
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or support work (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
