Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and flexible Sports Coach / Outdoor Education Instructor to join our team on an ad hoc basis. The role involves delivering high-quality sports sessions and outdoor learning experiences that engage and inspire students, while supporting their physical, social, and emotional development.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is confident working with young people who may display challenging behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and inclusive sports and physical activity sessions
- Lead outdoor education activities that promote teamwork, resilience, and wellbeing
- Adapt activities to meet individual student needs and abilities
- Build positive relationships with students to support engagement and progress
- Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Ensure all activities are safe, structured, and risk-assessed
- Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
- Contribute to a positive and supportive school environment
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse needs
- Flexible, reliable, and proactive attitude
- Passion for sport and/or outdoor education
Desirable:
- Relevant coaching or outdoor education qualifications
- Experience working with SEMH or additional needs
- First Aid qualification
- Understanding of safeguarding in educational settings
