Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and flexible Sports Coach / Outdoor Education Instructor to join our team on an ad hoc basis. The role involves delivering high-quality sports sessions and outdoor learning experiences that engage and inspire students, while supporting their physical, social, and emotional development.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is confident working with young people who may display challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive sports and physical activity sessions
  • Lead outdoor education activities that promote teamwork, resilience, and wellbeing
  • Adapt activities to meet individual student needs and abilities
  • Build positive relationships with students to support engagement and progress
  • Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
  • Ensure all activities are safe, structured, and risk-assessed
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive school environment

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse needs
  • Flexible, reliable, and proactive attitude
  • Passion for sport and/or outdoor education

Desirable:

  • Relevant coaching or outdoor education qualifications
  • Experience working with SEMH or additional needs
  • First Aid qualification
  • Understanding of safeguarding in educational settings
