Autism Teaching Assistant - South Woodford

We are seeking an exceptional teaching assistant immediately to join a KS2-KS3 group of highly autistic children for a special school located in South Woodford. This will be supporting a small group of 8 children; they can be very lively and display challenging behaviours such as biting and other associated behaviours with their condition. We are looking for some who is patient, has an understanding of how to support autistic children, has good behaviour management techniques and work well as part of a team. In return the school provide:
- Permanent contract after extended probation period
- £65-£80 daily rate
- Support to gain PGCE for anyone who is looking to teach in a special needs school
Job specification for Autism Teaching Assistant :
- Support in the education and delivery of EHCP plan for autistic children
- Can provide group and 1:1 support based on pupils' needs
- Knowledge of PECS or Makaton would be of an advantage
- Must have a positive, resilient personality and a good sense of humour
- Full time Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm during term time only
- Immediate start
- Hold Team teach training or relevant qualification
- Able to travel to South Woodford daily
