Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Autism Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive education setting in the Bournemouth area.

This is a full-time role with an immediate start, offering the opportunity to work across both primary and secondary phases.

You will be supporting children and young people aged 3 to 18 within an environment that values inclusion, structure and individual progress.

Staff work collaboratively to create a calm, positive and well-structured learning environment where pupils feel safe, understood and encouraged to reach their full potential. The school is well resourced and places great importance on the wellbeing of both pupils and staff.

 

The Role

Working hours are 8.45am to 3.30pm. You will support pupils throughout the school day, helping them to engage with learning and develop confidence, communication and independence.

  • Supporting pupils with autism spectrum conditions and associated needs

  • Working with pupils who may also present with ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support across primary and secondary age ranges

  • Assisting with emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies

  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to follow individual education plans

 

Essential Experience

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  • A minimum of six months’ childcare experience

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN needs, particularly autism

  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach to supporting learning and behaviour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
