Supporting a Year 1 Pupil
Start Date: September 2026
£14.25 per hour+ (dependent on experience)
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This full-time opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful difference within a welcoming and inclusive primary school environment.

About You
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous experience supporting children with autism or additional learning needs.
- Demonstrate patience, understanding, and a calm approach to supporting young learners.
- Be able to adapt strategies and activities to meet individual educational and sensory requirements.
- Build positive relationships and support pupils with confidence and consistency.
- Be passionate about helping children overcome challenges and achieve success in the classroom.
- Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
Key Responsibilities
As a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Work closely with a pupil with autism, supporting their engagement in lessons and wider school activities.
- Assist with emotional regulation and help implement strategies that promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to deliver tailored interventions and learning plans.
- Encourage the development of communication, social, and independent learning skills.
- Support classroom learning, transitions, and daily routines to ensure the pupil feels secure and able to thrive.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
