Autism and SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant - Manchester

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, knowledgable about working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition?

Do you have a passion for supporting the development of young people with special educational needs?

Do you have experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting?

An Ofsted graded 'good' specialist SEN School in Manchester are looking to build their team with the addition of a new KS2 Teaching Assistant to support their pupils with Autism. This Key Stage 2 class will be opening from September due to expansion in numbers and will cater for pupils with low-functioning Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Majority of pupils already have a place within school but will be given a new class from September to cater for their emotional and sensory needs.

This school cater for pupils aged 5 - 11 with a range of complex special needs including Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and Autism Spectrum Conditions.

They are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to start ideally before October half term to help the class with what has been a challenging transition since Setptember.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have sound knowledge and experience of alternative methods of communication e.g. PECs and Makaton as well as an understanding of multi-sensory needs.

  • Individuals with previous experience working within a school or a similar setting
  • Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviours
  • Experience working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition
