Autism specialists for KS1 needed to support pupils

Primary School located in Burnley (BB10)

Full-time role, Monday - Friday (8:30 - 15:30) 

February 2024 start

  • Short and long term positions available with potential of full time opportunities with schools.
  • CPD courses available for professional development.
  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviour and Autism.

Teaching Personnel are actively recruiting teaching assistants to go out into local schools across the area to build good working relationships and raise attainment on a day to day and longer term basis. The schools have pupils with a wide range of SEN, including Moderate Learning Difficulties, Autism, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. The school are in need of spport at KS1 level.  experience in this age range is desired. 

This role has been created to fulfil the needs of a specific pupil, who has ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder.) This child is in receipt of 25 hours of exceptional needs funding. The child has an Education, Health and Care Plan.

Main responsibilites

- supporting the development of skills in literacy, numeracy, communication and social and behavioural needs.

- differentiating and personalising work for the pupil to suit their ability and interests.

- using knowledge of pupil’s learning support needs to suggest appropriate adjustments to lesson plans to teachers.

- motivating and supporting the pupil.

- helping the pupil to regulate their emotions by offering sensory breaks 

- closely liaising with class teacher, INCo/SENCo, external agencies and parents

- developing appropriate resources to support the pupil

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
