SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
If you are passionate about making a difference to children’s development and learning, this role may be for you! The successful candidate should be able to build relationships with children and be confident to deliver SEN interventions to small groups.
- Hours: Full-time 8:30 – 15:30
- Pay: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour
- Location: Burnley
- Job Role: SEN Teaching Assistant and Nurture Support
Your responsibilities:
- Have a calm approach but be able to confidently demonstrate behaviour management strategies.
- Help create a stimulating and engaging learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, other professionals, including the SENCO and parents.
- Deliver engaging interventions to SEN children, identifying any gaps.
- Commit to the wider life of the school and the community of the school.
- General Teaching Assistant role, assisting with delivering lessons and sessions to small groups.
- Have an understanding of children’s needs, including a knowledge of SEN and additional needs.
- Establish trusting relationships with pupils and interact with them in order to support their needs.
Requirements:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Relevant experience working with children, within a school setting, preferably children with SEN needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have a passion for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
- Experience supporting children with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Enhanced DBS – assistance provided if required
- Strong behaviour management techniques.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
