Learning Support Assistant Required for specialist Autism provision in Leeds

  • Educated to degree level or higher
  • Able to meet the social, emotional and mental health needs of young people
  • Understanding of meeting the needs of young people with Autism and related communication difficulties

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist school in Leeds for young people aged 11 to 19 with an autistic spectrum condition (ASC) or related communication disorder.

The school are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to take on a mentoring role within the school. The ideal candidate will ideally be a graduate, with prior experience supporting pupils with additional needs. You will have excellent written and spoken English skills and be able to independently manage pupil behaviour. There may be some opportunities to take a leading role in the classroom - leading intervention activities and covering lessons (PPA).

The school principal states "I am proud and privileged to lead a school where the needs of our young people are carefully considered; to help them to make outstanding progress in their learning...We aim to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that enables all students, whatever their ability, to gain nationally accredited qualifications in key stage 4 and key stage 5. In addition to academic studies students can access a variety of life skills, social and enrichment activities; aimed at developing communication; social relationships; independence; emotional wellbeing and allowing them to make a social contribution as they grow into young adults."
