Make a Difference as an ALN Teaching Assistant in Cowbridge

Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic, and skilled Primary ALN Teaching Assistant to join a school’s supportive team in Cowbridge. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide essential support for pupils with Additional Learning Needs, helping them thrive within their inclusive school environment.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the ALNCo (Additional Learning Needs Coordinator) to support children with a range of needs, including learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory or physical needs, and social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.

Your role will be crucial in ensuring all pupils can access learning and develop socially and emotionally, contributing to their success in school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with ALN, both within the classroom and through targeted interventions
  • Support children with literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills
  • Promote the well-being, independence, and inclusion of all pupils
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, ALNCo
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reports
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children in a school or childcare setting (experience with ALN is desirable but not essential)
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Is adaptable, reliable, and committed to inclusive practice
  • Holds relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualifications, or equivalent — desirable but not essential)
  • Understands safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
