Job Title: Additional Needs Support Worker

Location: Kidwelly

Wage: £12.84 - £13.00 per hour

Job Duties:

- Provide support and assistance to students with additional needs, ensuring their inclusion and participation in educational activities.

- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students.

- Adapt and modify teaching materials and techniques to meet the unique learning needs of students with disabilities or learning difficulties.

- Assist students in developing independent living skills, including personal care, communication, and social interaction.

- Support students in accessing and utilising assistive technology and specialised equipment.

- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.

- Handle behavioural issues and provide behaviour management strategies to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.

- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students with additional needs.

- Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with additional needs.

Required Qualifications:

- A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (Health & Social Care, Psychology and more)

- Knowledge and understanding of different types of disabilities and learning difficulties.

- Experience working with individuals with additional needs, preferably in an educational setting.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.

- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

- A Level 3 qualification in a relevant field, such as Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Learning Support.

- Proven experience working with individuals with additional needs, preferably in an educational setting.

- In-depth knowledge and understanding of different types of disabilities and learning difficulties.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.

- Strong organisational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and prioritise workload.

- Proficiency in using assistive technology and specialised equipment.

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

- A Level 4 qualification or higher in a relevant field, such as Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Learning Support.

- Additional certifications or training related to supporting individuals with specific disabilities or learning difficulties.

- Experience in implementing and monitoring individualised education plans (IEPs).

- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to special educational needs and inclusion.

Working Conditions:

- The Additional Needs Support Worker will primarily work within an educational setting, such as a school or college.

- The role may involve working with students of different age groups and abilities.

- The Support Worker may be required to provide assistance in classrooms, during outdoor activities, or in specialised learning environments.

- Some physical activity, such as assisting with personal care or mobility, may be involved..

- The role may require adherence to safeguarding and health and safety policies and procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
