Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of children with special educational needs? Do you have the dedication and skills to support SEN students on their educational journey?

Teaching Personnel are actively recruiting for Teaching Assistants to work as SEN teaching assistants in a mainstream primary school in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with staff members to provide tailored support to pupils with diverse learning needs on a 1:1/small group basis. The role requires a compassionate, persevering individual with a genuine interest in assisting children with their learning barriers in education.

There are competitive rates of pay, with a minimum daily rate of £83.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one or teaching in small groups, adapting teaching methods for students where required.
  • Provide educational and emotional support to all students.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment for students.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Be patient, caring and engaging.
  • Have prior experience of supporting children with SEMH, ASD and other special educational needs.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Previous experience working as a SEN teaching assistant is required.
  • Strong understanding of various SEN conditions and ability to deal with varying student needs effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to stay up to date with most suitable practices when dealing with children with special needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with staff.
  • DBS on the update service – child work force only or be willing to apply.

This role may suit someone who has: a healthcare and social background, previous employment as a care worker or similar role, psychology graduate or a challenge behaviour setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
