1:1 SEMH teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is working with a supportive and passionate SEMH provision within the Gorton area. The students all have SEMH needs such as challenging and disruptive behaviour, Autism, low self-esteem. We are seeking a proactive, patient, and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to a Year 9 pupil, helping them re-engage with learning and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, helping them engage with learning and daily school activities.
- Implement personalised strategies to manage behaviour and promote emotional regulation in line with the pupil’s individual support plan.
- Assist in delivering tailored lessons and interventions, adapting resources to meet the pupil’s specific needs and learning style.
- Monitor and record progress, reporting observations to the class teacher and SENCO to inform ongoing support and planning.
- Offer emotional and social guidance, helping the pupil build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment, always following safeguarding procedures and school policies.
Requirements
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (willingness to obtain one)
- Previous experience working with SEMH needs within an educational setting
- Team teach – desirable but not essential
- A proactive and resilient attitude
- Employment references covering the last 24 months
- This is a full-time position so Monday – Friday availability is essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
