Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support
Location: Primary School in ST5 (Newcastle-under-Lyme area)
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner if available)
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, term time only
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience
Make a Lasting Impact – 1:1 Behaviour Support Role in a Primary Setting
We are recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with significant behavioural needs at a primary school in ST5. This role requires someone with exceptional behaviour management skills, patience, and the ability to build trust and structure for a pupil who needs consistent, individualised support throughout the day.
You will be working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team to implement strategies that help the pupil engage with learning, regulate their emotions, and develop socially and academically in a positive environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide full-time, 1:1 support for a pupil with behavioural needs in a classroom setting

Implement and maintain clear routines and behaviour management strategies

Use de-escalation techniques and emotional regulation tools where necessary

Work alongside teaching staff and external professionals to follow an individual support plan (ISP/EHCP)

Encourage positive social interaction and promote a safe, structured learning environment
Essential Requirements:
-
Previous school-based experience OR strong transferable experience (e.g., youth work, residential care, SEMH support, coaching, etc.)

Proven ability to manage behaviour in a calm, consistent, and supportive way

Confident working 1:1 with children who may present with emotional or behavioural challenges

Resilience, empathy, and strong communication skills

A current DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
