1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant (ASD) – KS2

Location: Ammanford, Carmarthenshire
Start Date: 1st November 2025
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Pay: Competitive – based on experience and qualifications


About the Role

We are seeking a caring, patient, and creative 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a wonderful KS2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who truly wants to make a difference in a child’s learning journey and day-to-day school life.

You’ll work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider team to provide tailored support across Maths, Literacy, and social development, helping the pupil thrive both academically and emotionally.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 support throughout the school day, adapting activities and tasks to meet individual needs.
  • Assisting with Maths and Literacy in a creative and engaging way.
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive relationships with peers.
  • Supporting sensory, emotional, and behavioural regulation throughout the school day.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to maintain a consistent, nurturing environment.

About You

You’ll be someone who brings warmth, empathy, and patience to every interaction. You don’t need years of experience — what matters most is your genuine passion for helping children reach their potential.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience (paid or voluntary) supporting children with ASD or additional needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, positive approach and flexible mindset
  • A genuine interest in primary education and child development

(Experience in KS2 or 1:1 support is an advantage but not essential)
