1-1 EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant, Cambridge

Teaching Personnel is working with a locally respected primary school based in Cambridge. They were judged to be a 'good school' in 2016 and their aim is to provide an outstanding education for all children!

They are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Learning Support Assistant committed to raising standards to support a young pupil in the EYFS with Special Educational Needs . You will have an ability to work flexibly and with enthusiasm, under the direction of the Pastoral lead. While the primary aim is to support an individual pupil the successful applicant will also be responsible for helping support the other children in the class too.

You will work in partnership with the class teacher to support learning in line with the National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, codes of practice, school policies and procedures.

The candidates will preferably have relevant NVQ qualifications or equivalent up to Level 3 and ideally experience supporting pupils in the EYFS.

Desirable criteria:

  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Experience of supporting a pupil with SLCN would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of successful strategies to engage a pupil, with SLCN in their learning
  • Experience of the EYFS curriculum
  • Flexible and adaptable with timetabling and the daily routines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to liaise with parents and relevant staff
