Job description

An opportunity has arisen at a school in Macclesfield, for an experienced Biology teacher to join the teaching staff on a temporary basis.  It is essential that the required applicant will:

  • Hold QTS (or an equivalent qualification)
  • Be educated to degree level (in Biology or a related subject)
  • Hold experience in the delivery of high quality Biology lessons across KS3 and KS4.

It is expected that the required applicant will:

  • Be able to successfully keep pupils focused, delivering school curriculum whilst trying to keep lessons engaging for students.
  • Ensuring students adhere to school policy, both within the classroom and across the school site.
  • Implement a unique approach, applying strategies designed to allow students to be able to fully maximise their overall potential within the subject.
  • Work with other members of staff to identify pupils who require extra support and guidance within the subject.
  • Work with pupils with SEN, and ensure that the learning process has been made accessible for these students.
  • Understand the difficulties that the subject often brings, and be able to simplify the learning process.

The position will:

  • Commence after the Easter break, and will run through until the end of the academic year.
  • Involve working with children across a broad range of ages, ethnicities and abilities.

Pay: Between GBP24,373 and GBP40,490 per annum, based on prior expeirence. 

The school’s location:

  • Located in Macclesfield, less than 20 miles away from Manchester city centre.
  • There are multiple public transport links close by, as well as motorway links allowing ease of access to those that drive.
