Youth Worker - Wakefield
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Teaching Personnel working with a school in Wakefield (WF1) that is looking to appoint Youth Workers and Behaviour Support Assistants for full time and permanent roles. The school is easily accessible by public transport from Wakefield, Leeds, Kirklees and surrounding areas.
The school caters to students across Key Stages 2 - 4 that have additional Special Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. There are three sites, all based in WF1, and one caters to students with SEN (primarily Autism) whilst the other two supports students that display challenging behaviours, are disengaged from their education and come from disadvantaged and complex backgrounds.
Due to the nature of the students and their behaviour we are looking for someone who is resilient, therapeutic and who can adopt a person centred approach. The school uses a Positive Behaviour approach which means that, although negative behaviours will be disciplined, the focus will be on the reasons behind those behaviours rather than the the behaviours themselves.
We especially encourage candidates with experience in Team Teach, Youth Work, mental health, Special Needs, sports coaching and youth offending to apply.
