Our independent specialist day school are looking to recruit a Youth Worker on a full time basis. The school is across three sites and is located in the heart of Wakefield Town Centre. The school has been judged to be GOOD in all areas at the February 2017 Ofsted inspection.

As a Youth Worker, you will be working alongside Teachers and other support staff and you will be responsible for providing essential support to SEN pupils with learning difficulties, behavioural, social and physical disabilities. You will build positive relationships with pupils to promote interaction and a constructive learning environment as well as assist the class teacher and other education staff with learning activities. Work is often carried outside of the classroom environment, but you will have the opportunity to assist in the planning and delivery of lessons in a very creative and positive setting.

Due to the nature of the students, you may have to take a creative approach to every day lessons, seeking ways to positively engage and motivate pupils through lessons that promote learning and raise levels of attainment. As a Youth Worker, you will be working with a wide range of complex needs including; Autism, PMLD, Development Delay, OCD, SLD, ODD.

The successful applicant will you want to be part of a great team that works at pace to turn "can't do" in to "want to" and is flexible to meet the challenges of working with children with complex needs then we have the role for you. Whilst previous experience in a SEN environment would be extremely desirable, the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important to our client school. As a Youth Worker, you must be motivated by the belief that every child can achieve and reach their full potential, no matter the barriers they face to education.
