Youth Work Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel work in close partnership with many of the secondary schools across Wigan and Warrington. As a result, there are a vast number of opportunities available for people to work as Teaching Assistants on a daily and longer term basis. We particularly want to hear from you if you have a Youth Work background as the schools require engaging individuals to inspire and motivate their students.

The role of a Teaching Assistant within a secondary school is a varied one with you being required to work 1-to-1 with pupils, with small groups in the main classes and to cover lessons whenever needed. As a result, we are seeking confident and passionate people with previous experience of working with young people to act as a positive influence within the classroom to support pupils with their learning.

These roles are ideal for anyone who wishes to utilise any previous experience of working with young people whether that be sports coaching, dance teaching or similar related employment within a youth work capacity to work within a variety of secondary schools. This allows you to network appropriately for any future employment opportunities and to gain valuable experience if you are thinking of going into teaching in the future.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
