Job Title: Youth Support Worker
Location: Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Contract: Full-time (Monday–Friday, term time)
Start Date: ASAP (subject to DBS & vetting checks)
Pay: £120–£130 per day (depending on experience)


About the Role

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Youth Support Worker to work full-time within a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Pontypridd. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in youth work, behaviour support, or pastoral care who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

You will play a key role in supporting students who may present with behavioural, emotional, or social needs, helping them to engage positively with school life and learning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with behavioural or emotional needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support engagement and wellbeing.
  • Assist teaching staff with behaviour management strategies within the classroom.
  • Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes, and transitions throughout the school day.
  • Implement targeted intervention strategies to promote positive behaviour and attendance.
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral staff, SEN teams, and senior leaders.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people (youth work, mentoring, coaching, education, care, or similar).
  • Demonstrates strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Is patient, resilient, and empathetic.
  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Is confident working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Is committed to supporting vulnerable learners to succeed.

Experience within a school setting is desirable but not essential — relevant transferable experience is highly valued.
