A supportive secondary school is looking for a Cover Supervisor to deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of teaching staff. It’s an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced school support staff who want hands-on classroom experience.
You don’t need QTS — your confidence, communication skills, and ability to manage a classroom are what matter most.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll take responsibility for whole classes during both short-term and longer staff absences. Your mission: ensure learning continues smoothly and students stay engaged.
You’ll be:
- Supervising classes using pre-prepared lesson plans
- Keeping pupils on task and supporting them with their work
- Managing behaviour in line with school policies
- Responding to questions and escalating issues when needed
- Maintaining a calm, structured classroom environment
- Covering a variety of subjects and year groups
- Following safeguarding and school procedures at all times
