Contract: Full-time, immediate start until the end of the academic year

Are you looking for a rewarding role in education where you can make a real difference to young people’s lives? Whether you’re an experienced Youth Worker or Residential Support Worker, or someone looking to begin a career in education, we’d love to hear from you.

We are working with a welcoming secondary alternative provision in the Caerphilly area, supporting KS3 and KS4 pupils who present with challenging behaviour, additional learning needs, and emotional or social difficulties.

About the Provision

  • A calm, supportive alternative setting for pupils across the local authority

  • Small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio

  • A safe, nurturing environment focused on helping pupils re-engage with learning

  • A separate provision linked to a pupil referral unit

You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis, offering consistent support, clear boundaries, and positive role modelling.

About the Role

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday (08:30–15:00)

  • Supporting pupils in small groups (typically no more than 10 students)

  • Assisting teachers and support staff with behaviour management and tailored strategies

  • Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and essential life skills

  • Creating and maintaining a safe, structured learning environment

  • Providing firm but compassionate guidance to support emotional and behavioural needs

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people (e.g. youth work, residential care, healthcare, volunteering, sports coaching, or similar) — desirable but not essential

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed

  • Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team

  • Can follow guidance and maintain professional boundaries

  • Is committed to completing required training

  • Does not require formal teaching qualifications — ideal for those new to education

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service

  • EWC registration (support provided)

  • Two professional references

  • Ability to travel to the Caerphilly area
