£90 per day with pay increase in April 2026

We’re partnering with a dedicated Pupil Referral Unit in Bargoed, Caerphilly, to recruit a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant. What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for learners aged 11–18.

• Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

• Working closely with teachers to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences.

• Encouraging positive behaviour using consistent, supportive strategies.

• Offering tailored support to students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including:

  • ASD

  • ADHD

  • Dyslexia

  • Social, emotional & mental health challenges

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to come from a traditional education background—what matters most is empathy, resilience, and the ability to build positive relationships.

We welcome applicants with experience in:

• Behaviour support, ALN/SEBD roles

• Youth work, mentoring, community roles

• Support work, care work

• Sports coaching (football, rugby, boxing, etc.)

• Police, prison service, armed forces or cadets

• Teaching assistant roles or similar

You should be:

• Confident using positive behaviour strategies

• Calm, patient, and able to motivate young people

• Passionate about helping students succeed—both academically and emotionally

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
