Teaching Assistant / Youth Support (PRU) 

Teaching Personnel are looking for a Youth Support Assistant based in or around Salford to join the team, supporting students between 11 and 18 in a Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs (SEMH) within a specialist provision.

The centre aims to reengage young people excluded from mainstream education with learning, in as normal a school environment as possible. Many students within this provision have Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs. Supporting pupil’s transition back into the community and education, with a focus on a child-centred and trauma informed approach.  Students are taught in mixed ability and mixed aged teaching groups of up to 12 and teaching staff are reflective and plan accordingly for learners’ individual social/ emotional/ mental health needs. Your job as Learning Support Assistant will be to assist in the classroom, work 1-1 and in small groups with students under direction of the teacher.

Ideally you will have experience of working with challenging behaviour within an education setting; however, this is not essential as long as you can demonstrate a commitment to supporting vulnerable students with SEMH needs in a specialist environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
