Learning Support Assistant- Year 7 Transition 1:1 Support
Location: Pontypool
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to provide support for a Year 7 pupil transitioning into secondary school this September.
This rewarding role involves working closely with a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them navigate the transition from primary to secondary education while supporting their academic, social and emotional development. You will play a key role in building confidence, promoting independence and ensuring the pupil feels safe, supported and able to thrive in their new school environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Supporting a Year 7 pupil with additional learning needs as they transition into secondary education.
- Working closely with teachers, the ALNCo and pastoral teams to implement personalised support strategies.
- Helping the pupil access learning and engage positively in lessons.
- Encouraging social interaction, confidence and independence.
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and helping to manage any challenges associated with transition.
- Building a positive and trusting relationship to help the pupil achieve their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
