Year 4 Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our Year 4 team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children’s learning and development while maintaining a positive and structured classroom environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to deliver high-quality support, ensuring all pupils are engaged and achieving their potential. Strong behaviour management skills are essential, as you will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour and creating a safe, inclusive learning space.
Location: Burnley
Contract Type: Full-time – long-term. Opportunity to be for the full academic year.
Salary: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
- Implement effective and strong behaviour management strategies in line with school policy.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with varying needs.
- Assist in planning and preparing resources for learning.
- Foster a positive and respectful classroom culture.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Confidence when supporting children, showing a proactive approach.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
