Location: Burnley
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm (Term Time Only)
Contract: Full-Time

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with ASD within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Burnley. This is a full-time, term-time-only role ideal for someone passionate about helping children thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a child with ASD in the classroom
  • Implement personalised learning strategies and support plans
  • Adapt tasks and resources to meet the child’s individual needs
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and social interaction
  • Assist during transitions, breaktimes and lunchtimes
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
  • Help create a calm, inclusive and positive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEND (ASD experience desirable)
  • A patient, caring and positive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to use initiative and follow guidance
  • Reliable, proactive and committed to children's wellbeing

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children in an educational or care setting
  • Willingness to complete relevant training and safeguarding checks

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
