Job description

We are looking for a confident, motivated and skilled Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive school team. The successful candidate will work across the school to support pupils’ learning and wellbeing, as well as providing high‑quality class cover when required. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking initiative, building strong relationships with pupils, and contributing to a vibrant school community.

Position: Level 3 Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full‑Time
Location: Burnley
Start Date: 1st September 2026 or ASAP
Salary: £14.30 - £15 per hour

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide learning support to pupils across a range of ages and abilities
  • Deliver planned lessons to whole classes in the absence of the class teacher
  • Work closely with teachers to prepare resources and support daily learning
  • Assist with small‑group interventions and targeted support
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm, purposeful environment
  • Support the wider school team with administrative and pastoral tasks
  • Contribute to the creation of an inclusive and engaging learning environment

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience covering classes independently
  • Strong communication and behaviour‑management skills
  • Ability to follow planning and deliver engaging lessons
  • A flexible, proactive and positive approach
  • Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

Desirable

  • Experience across different key stages
  • Knowledge of intervention strategies and learning support techniques
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
