Job Opportunity: Year 3 Teaching Assistant (SEN Experience Essential) – Portsmouth

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for an enthusiastic and nurturing TA to join a vibrant primary school in Portsmouth, working specifically with a Year 3 class.
The Role:
As a Year 3 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both the academic and social development of pupils, with a particular focus on one or more children with SEN. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.
✅ Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with SEN

Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons

Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Support pupils with their emotional, social and behavioural development
-
Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents
About You:

Previous experience working with children with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs)

A patient, empathetic and positive attitude
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills

A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, CACHE) is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
