Welsh Speaking Teaching Assistant
Location: Cardiff, Wales
Start date / Hours: September 2025 Start, Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Salary: £89.38 per day (paid weekly via PAYE)

Are you fluent in Welsh and passionate about supporting children in their education journey? Whether you're experienced or looking to kick-start your career in education, this is a fantastic opportunity to work as a Teaching Assistant in a Welsh-medium secondary school in Cardiff.

We’re looking for compassionate, proactive individuals to support pupils aged 11–18 with additional learning needs (ALN/SEN). You’ll be helping to create a safe, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

✅ Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with special educational needs (SEN), through the medium of Welsh
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored, engaging lessons and activities
  • Support learning using sensory tasks, structured development plans, and practical classroom activities
  • Foster emotional, social, and academic growth in pupils
  • Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and well-being
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff to deliver the best outcomes for learners

What We’re Looking For:

  • Fluent Welsh speaker – written and spoken fluency is essential
  • Experience working with children or young people is beneficial but not essential
    (We welcome applicants with backgrounds in youth work, care work, sports coaching, mentoring, or voluntary roles)
  • Kind, patient, and resilient attitude with strong communication skills
  • A passion for inclusive education and supporting students with additional needs

Essential Requirements:

  • Willingness to apply for an Enhanced DBS check (we’ll support you through the process)
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – guidance provided
  • Able to provide 2 references from the past 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
