Welsh Speaking Classroom Assistant
Start date: September 2023 (Full academic year)
Salary: £11.83 an hour
Full time: 8:30-3:30 (Monday-Friday)

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a Welsh speaking classroom assistant to work in one our partner schools in the North of Cardiff. This is a full-time role where you will be working within one of the foundation phase classes within the school. The team of staff are eager to welcome a proactive and friendly teaching assistant to the team for the full academic year. The school is highly committed to offering the best possible education to the children within the school whilst also providing support to staff and their wellbeing.
You do not need previous classroom experience, however other professional or personal experience working with children would be beneficial. The main skills and characteristics for the role is the ability to speak fluent Welsh and demonstrate the eagerness to help children learn to the best of their abilities.
Day to day activities include:
- Assisting the class teacher with behaviour management
- Ensuring classroom is tidy
- Setting up necessary equipment for lessons throughout the day
- Supervising children over lunch time
- Leading small reading groups of 6-8 pupils
- Offering support with numeracy on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
Essential Requirements:
- To be registered with the Education Workforce Council
- To apply for an Enhanced child only DBS on the update service
- 2x professional references
- Right to work in the UK
- Good fluency of the Welsh Language

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
