Unqualified Teaching Assistant
Location: Cardiff, CF5
Salary: £90 per day via PAYEE (increase in April 2026)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)
Start Date: ASAP / March 2026 – July 2026 (End of Academic Year)

Teaching Personnel is recruiting an Unqualified Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Cardiff (CF5). This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting students aged 11–18 in a mainstream school environment, particularly those with Special Educational Needs, Social Emotional and Mental Health needs, and Additional Learning Needs.

This position is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, psychology students, support workers, youth workers, sports coaches, or career changers looking to develop experience within a school setting.

You will also deliver structured intervention sessions twice per week, with full training, resources, and ongoing mentoring provided.

Key Responsibilities – Teaching Assistant / SEN Support

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support classroom teachers with learning support and behaviour management

  • Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions for pupils with SEN, SEMH, ALN, Autism (ASD), and ADHD

  • Assist students with academic engagement, emotional regulation, and social development

  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

  • Deliver targeted intervention programmes to support student progress

  • Gain valuable experience for careers in teaching, SEN support, youth work, therapy, or psychology

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Interested in education, teaching assistant roles, or SEN support

  • Passionate about working with young people

  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive

  • Strong communicators with teamwork skills

  • Keen to gain experience in secondary schools or special educational needs settings

  • Willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS and EWC Registration (support provided)

You must also provide two professional references.
