Unqualified Teacher (Cover Supervisor) – Derby and Derbyshire

Due to our East Midlands Secondary Branch getting busier with the need of daily and short term cover assignments, Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a number of Unqualified Teachers (Cover Supervisors) with immediate starts available for successful candidates. Teaching Personnel support a number of educational establishments across Derby and Derbyshire including mainstream secondary schools, academies, independent schools and grammar schools and so working as an Unqualified Teacher (Cover Supervisor) offers an opportunity to experience a range of school settings, especially for those considering a Teacher Training Programme in the future.

The role of an Unqualified Teacher (Cover Supervisor) includes:

  • Providing classroom management of students in the absence of a teaching member of staff. 
  • To liaise with appropriate Heads of Department on work to be set for classes and on any behavioural matters.
  • To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teachers’ lesson plans.
  • Manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are completing work to ensure a constructive environment.
  • Deal with any immediate problems according to the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Collect completed work after the lesson and pass to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Report, as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of pupils during the class and on any problems arising.
  • Registering attendance in accordance with school policy.
