Unqualified Teacher - Derby

Are you graduate with aspirations of becoming a Secondary Teacher looking for experience?

Are you looking for flexible work in a classroom as an Unqualified Teacher in a Secondary School in Derby?

Our client Secondary Schools in Derby are looking to recruit a confident and enthusiastic graduates to become Teachers in the future! Starting immediately, to support our secondary schools with their short term teacher absences on a flexible basis. 

What is an Unqualified Teacher?

As an Unqualified Teacher, your role will involve covering a range of lessons in the absence of class teachers in the event of short term sickness or internal training. 

Each day you work, you will report to the cover manager at the school to be briefed on your timetable for the day. Your day to day responsibilities will involve delivering pre-set work to a class of pupils and ensure they remain on task with this. Once the lesson is completed, you will collect in the work and hand it back to the appropriate teacher. 

An Unqualified Teacher works as an unqualified teacher and so will give you the best first hand experience of managing a classroom if you are considering a career in secondary teaching!

Highlights of the Unqualified Teacher position:

  • Regular work at a local Secondary School
  • Earn a weekly rate of GBP285 - GBP325
  • Flexible work to suit your availability (e.g. 2 - 5 days a week)
  • Starting immediately – regular work throughout the academic year
  • CPD opportunities including a course on how to be an Unqualified Teacher, a free Safeguarding course and Team Teach etc
  • Great way to gain experience if considering a PGCE

The successful candidate will ideally:

  • Hold a degree
  • Have aspirations of becoming a secondary teacher
  • Have some availability for flexible short notice work
  • Be confident in order to manage a class of pupils 
  • Have previous experience in a similar setting or working with young people
