Job description
Location: Bridgend, South Wales
Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Starting October 2025
About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a resilient, empathetic, and committed Unqualified SEN Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for young people with a range of disabilities and Additional Learning Needs (ALN). This role is particularly suited to individuals with a calm and patient approach, who are confident working with children and young people across key stages.
These pupils may struggle to engage in a typical classroom environment, and your role will be to help them feel safe, understood, and capable of progress. Your ability to remain composed under pressure, build positive relationships, and apply effective de-escalation techniques will be essential in helping pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Who We’re Looking for?
- Resilient, patient and understanding attitude
- Support pupils with personal care, mobility, and sensory needs where required.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviours
- Deliver consistent 1:1 and small group support during lessons and daily activities tailored to individual pupil need
- The ability to implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour effectively
- A commitment to encouraging the pupil’s engagement, confidence, and emotional development
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Requirements
Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
- At least two professional references covering the past two years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
