Unqualified Secondary Teaching Assistant – Full-Time | Rhondda Cynon Taf
Daily Pay: £89.38 (£13.75 per hour)

A supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Rhondda Cynon Taf is seeking an enthusiastic Unqualified Teaching Assistant to join their team. You don’t need formal qualifications — just a passion for supporting young people and a willingness to learn.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping students aged 11–16 to thrive. You will:

  • Support pupils in class, small groups, or one-to-one with subjects such as English, Maths, or Science

  • Encourage engagement, confidence, and positive behaviour across the school day

  • Work closely with teachers to prepare learning materials and classroom resources

  • Assist in managing behaviour and promoting a respectful, inclusive learning environment

  • Provide emotional and academic support to students who may need extra encouragement


Who We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Enjoy working with young people and understand the challenges of secondary education

  • Are patient, resilient, and approachable with good communication skills

  • Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Have transferable experience from youth work, coaching, childcare, or customer-facing roles

  • Are eager to develop your skills and make a lasting impact in education

(Previous school experience is a bonus, but not essential — we value enthusiasm and transferable skills just as highly.)


Requirements

You’ll need (or be willing to obtain):

  • EWC registration (School Learning Support Worker category)

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

  • Two professional references

If you don’t already have these, we’ll guide you through the process.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
