Job description

1:1 Tutor – Wellingborough Area

Location: Wellingborough and surrounding areas
Setting: Pupil’s home or school
Hours: During school hours, Monday–Friday
Position: 1:1 Tutor

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated 1:1 Tutor to provide personalised educational support to pupils in the Wellingborough area.

The tutor will work with pupils either at their home or within a school setting during normal school hours, delivering engaging and structured lessons based on the pupil’s individual needs.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching the UK curriculum.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
  • Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or personalised learning support.
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons independently.
  • Excellent communication and classroom-management skills.
  • A patient, reliable and supportive approach.
  • An enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition tailored to the pupil’s needs.
  • Follow the relevant UK curriculum and school learning objectives.
  • Identify gaps in learning and develop appropriate support strategies.
  • Build a positive and professional relationship with the pupil.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit the pupil’s learning style and ability.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and school staff where appropriate.
  • Help pupils develop their academic skills, confidence and engagement with learning.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • SEND or additional learning needs.
  • Alternative provision.
  • Supporting pupils who are unable to attend mainstream school.
  • Working with pupils with challenging or complex needs.
  • GCSE and/or Functional Skills preparation.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
