Are you an experienced teacher or tutor with a passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is looking for dedicated SEN 1:1 Tutors to support primary and secondary pupils across Wellingborough and the surrounding areas. Tuition will take place in pupils’ homes, schools or suitable community settings during school hours.

Pay

Competitive pay, depending on experience, qualifications, pupil needs and the tuition assignment.

Working Pattern

• Flexible part-time and full-time opportunities.
• Tuition delivered during school hours, Monday to Friday.
• Opportunities to support both primary and secondary-aged pupils.
• Long-term and ongoing tuition assignments available.
• Travel to pupils’ homes, schools or community venues across Wellingborough and nearby areas may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition tailored to each pupil’s individual needs.
• Support pupils across primary and secondary education.
• Plan and deliver lessons in line with the UK National Curriculum.
• Adapt teaching strategies and resources to support a range of SEND needs.
• Use differentiated teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
• Support pupils to develop academic skills, confidence, independence and engagement.
• Monitor pupil progress and complete session reports after each lesson.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families, schools and relevant professionals.
• Encourage resilience, motivation and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Must-Have Requirements

• Minimum of two years’ UK teaching or tutoring experience.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience working with either primary or secondary-aged pupils.
• Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and differentiated teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication, behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to travel reliably between tuition locations.
• Right to work in the UK.

Nice-to-Have

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, dyslexia, speech and language needs or other additional learning needs.
• Experience delivering tuition within alternative provision, specialist settings or pupils’ homes.
• Knowledge and understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Experience supporting pupils who are disengaged from education or require personalised learning programmes.

This role is based in Wellingborough, with opportunities available in surrounding areas depending on pupil requirements.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
