Location: Northampton
Job Type: Flexible, Temporary (with potential for permanent opportunities)

Make a Difference Through One-to-One Tuition

Are you an experienced educator looking for flexible work where you can make a genuine difference to a learner’s education?

TP Tutors is looking for passionate and dedicated tutors to provide personalised one-to-one tuition to children and young people across the Northampton area. Tuition will take place in pupils' homes, schools, and alternative education settings during school hours.

You may support learners who require additional academic support, exam preparation, or specialist SEND provision. Whether you're a qualified teacher, experienced tutor, or SEND specialist, this is an excellent opportunity to use your skills to help learners progress and build confidence.

The Role

As a Tutor, you will provide engaging and personalised lessons based on each learner's individual needs. You'll help pupils develop key academic skills, improve their confidence, and work towards their educational goals.

You may work with learners across Primary and Secondary education, including GCSE, Functional Skills, Alternative Provision, and SEND.

Every learner has different strengths and challenges, so you'll need to adapt your teaching style to suit their individual abilities and learning needs.

Subjects

We welcome applications from tutors who can teach one or more of the following:

English • Mathematics • Science • Literacy & Numeracy • Functional Skills • Primary Curriculum • GCSE Subjects • Humanities • Modern Foreign Languages • Computing • Creative Arts • Other National Curriculum Subjects

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one tuition tailored to each learner's needs.
  • Plan and prepare high-quality lessons that support measurable progress.
  • Assess learning and provide clear written feedback following sessions.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different abilities, learning styles, and needs.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, schools, and other professionals.
  • Encourage learners to develop their academic skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of two years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Knowledge of Primary, Secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills, or SEND education.
  • Strong lesson planning, assessment, communication, and behaviour management skills.
  • Reliable travel access across the Northampton area.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • QTS, PGCE, or other recognised teaching qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Desirable Experience

  • Supporting learners with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, Dyslexia, and SLCN.
  • Experience working with EHCPs and SEND support.
  • Experience in Alternative Provision and home tuition.
  • Experience supporting learners who may have experienced gaps in education.

Location

This role covers tuition assignments throughout Northampton and the surrounding areas. Tutors must be able to travel reliably to pupils' homes, schools, and alternative education settings during school hours, Monday to Friday.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
