1:1 Tutor – Wellingborough Area (Home & School-Based Tuition During School Hours)

Job Title: 1:1 Tutor
Location: Wellingborough and surrounding areas
Hours: Flexible, during school hours (typically 9:00am–3:00pm)
Contract Type: Self-employed / Part-time / Flexible opportunities available
Pay: Competitive hourly rates (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Tutors to provide personalised educational support to pupils in the Wellingborough area. Tuition will take place either in pupils' homes or within school settings during school hours.

This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who may be out of mainstream education, require additional learning support, have special educational needs, or benefit from individualised teaching to help them achieve their academic potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and tailored 1:1 tuition sessions.
  • Plan lessons that meet the individual needs and learning goals of each pupil.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and progress.
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of sessions and pupil achievements.
  • Liaise professionally with parents, carers, schools, and other professionals as required.
  • Promote pupil wellbeing, engagement, and educational attainment.

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Functional Skills
  • Primary Curriculum
  • GCSE Subjects
  • SEN-focused learning support

Essential Requirements

  • Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or supporting children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Reliable transport and willingness to travel within the Wellingborough area.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or EBSA.
  • Experience delivering alternative provision or intervention programmes.
  • Relevant degree or subject specialism.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
