Job description

One-to-One Tutor – Warrington Area
Help learners thrive outside the classroom.

We’re looking for experienced educators to support children and young people across the Warrington area who are not currently in mainstream education. These pupils may be out of school for a range of reasons—medical needs, social or emotional challenges, or gaps in their learning—and your role will be to help them reconnect with their education.

Tuition is delivered on a one-to-one basis, either in the pupil’s home or in a quiet public space such as a local library. Sessions are focused, personalised and built entirely around the needs of each individual learner.

This role offers a meaningful way to use your teaching experience without the pressures of a full classroom, allowing you to work flexibly and see the impact of your support firsthand.

You’ll typically be delivering lessons in English, Maths or both, depending on your strengths. Pupils may range in age from primary through to secondary, but are often working below age-related expectations due to time missed in school.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from qualified teachers (QTS/QTLS), former teaching assistants with strong experience, or skilled tutors with a background in supporting additional needs or alternative provision.

What we offer:

  • £25–£30 per hour (PAYE, no umbrella deductions)

  • Flexible hours to suit your schedule (typically between 8am–4pm, Mon–Fri)

  • Regular work with pupils in Warrington and surrounding areas

  • A dedicated consultant to support you with placements and admin

  • Optional CPD and access to training resources

  • The chance to make a real difference in a pupil’s life and education journey

If you're passionate about education, confident working independently, and able to adapt your teaching to meet a variety of needs, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now with your CV and we’ll be in touch to discuss the next steps.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
