Job description

1:1 Tutor (Home & School-Based)

Location: Towcester and surrounding areas
Hours: School hours (Monday–Friday, term time)
Contract: Flexible – Part-time / Full-time opportunities available
Pay: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

We are looking for passionate and dedicated 1:1 Tutors to provide personalised tuition to children and young people in their homes or school settings during school hours across Towcester and the surrounding areas.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who require additional educational support, helping them build confidence, improve academic achievement, and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, tailored 1:1 lessons that meet each pupil's individual learning needs.
  • Plan and prepare lessons aligned with the National Curriculum and pupil targets.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils, families, and schools.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress after each session.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years' teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience working with children and young people in educational settings.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred but not essential for experienced tutors.
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to plan engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable, as travel between pupil locations may be required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
