Job description

Do you have the passion and experience to help young learners achieve their potential?
We’re seeking skilled and compassionate SEND tutors to deliver Maths and English support to primary and secondary pupils across the Thurrock area.

Our students come from a range of backgrounds and may need additional support to thrive. Some pupils may:

  • Be working below age-related expectations (ARE) or have significant gaps in their learning.

  • Be Looked After Children (LAC) or come from disadvantaged circumstances.

  • Have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).

  • Have been excluded from school or currently receive alternative provision.

You will play a vital role in helping each child rebuild confidence, close learning gaps, and re-engage positively with education.

About the role:

  • Subjects: Maths and English (Primary & Secondary)

  • Location: Thurrock – tuition takes place in homes, libraries, schools, or online

  • Hours: Minimum 10–15 hours per week, with potential for additional sessions

  • Type: Ongoing, flexible part-time or full-time opportunities

We’re looking for tutors who:

  • Have proven experience working with SEND or vulnerable learners.

  • Can adapt their teaching approach to meet individual learning needs.

  • Are patient, empathetic, and committed to helping pupils succeed.

  • Hold relevant tutoring or teaching experience (QTS desirable but not essential).

  • Possess a current Enhanced DBS (or are willing to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
