Job description

Tutor (EBSA Specialist)
Location: Various (travel to students’ homes, schools, and local venues)
Pay: £20–£30 per hour (dependent on experience)
Hours: Flexible

Are you an empathetic and experienced tutor with a passion for supporting young people who find it difficult to attend school? We’re looking for a dedicated EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) Specialist Tutor to join our growing team.

About the Role

You will work with students experiencing anxiety, low confidence, and low self-esteem — helping them re-engage with learning in a supportive and structured way. Lessons may take place at the student’s home, school, or a local community setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess each learner’s individual needs and barriers to learning

  • Plan and deliver a personalised scheme of work that builds confidence and promotes progress

  • Develop positive relationships to encourage engagement and trust

  • Track and report on student progress, attendance, and wellbeing

  • Liaise with parents, schools, and other professionals where appropriate

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a minimum of 3 years’ tutoring experience

  • Experience working with young people with EBSA, anxiety, or social/emotional needs

  • Patient, understanding, and able to adapt your approach to each learner

  • Confident working independently and managing your own caseload

  • Willing and able to travel to students’ homes, schools, and local venues

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
