I am looking for a tutor to support a Looked After pupil who is in Year 10 and based in the Mansfield area on Wednesday and Thursday mornings ONLY. Initially we will be looking for tutors to offer online teaching whilst the lockdown restrictions are still in place, with a view to moving out to the residential home where the pupil resides once restrictions are lifted.
The student can be impulsive and can cause damage to property when he is feeling out of control, however there is no risk of him being physically aggressive to staff. Instead he may withdraw or disengage if he feels anxious and may walk away if he is feels overwhelmed by the situation.
We are looking for a tutor with the following experience and qualifications:
- Fully Qualfied or FE qualified Teacher with QTS or QTLS
- Experience teaching English, Maths and Science to KS3 (he is working well below age related expectations)
- Experience working with disaffected and disengaged pupils
- Confident to deal with safeguarding concerns efficiently and appropriately
- Experienced working with Looked After Children, with a good understanding of how childhood trauma can impact current behaviour and emotions, and an awareness of Attachment Disorder
- Confident to teach using a creative, differentiated approach according to the pupil's needs and current mood
- Experience tutoring on a 1:1 basis, where you have planned and delivered all of the work independently
- Some experience of online teaching platforms such as Bramble, Google Classrooms or similar is helpful but not essential
