Job description

Join TPTUTORS – Inspire, Empower, and Make a Lasting Impact

At TPTUTORS, we’re more than just a tutoring service—we’re a dedicated team of educators committed to transforming lives through tailored, high-quality academic support. As demand for our services continues to grow, we’re seeking enthusiastic, experienced tutors to join our expanding network and help us meet the needs of students referred by Local Authorities and schools across the UK.

Why Become a Tutor with TPTUTORS?

Tutoring with TPTUTORS isn’t just a side job—it’s an opportunity to change the course of a learner’s life. You'll help students build confidence, close academic gaps, and reach meaningful educational milestones. Whether you have expertise in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or are a subject specialist in areas like Business Studies, Modern Languages, or English and Maths, your skills are needed.

‍ Your Role as a TPTUTOR and What You’ll Be Doing

As a tutor with us, you’ll typically work  anywhere between 10–25 hours per week, though some roles may begin with as little as 1 hour per week, depending on student needs. We offer flexible scheduling to fit your availability, and tutoring can take place either:

  • In person – at a student’s home or in a public setting such as a local library or community centre.
  • Online – through secure digital platforms, when that better suits the student or location.

You will work one-on-one with students to deliver focused, goal-driven support that helps them overcome challenges and achieve progress in their learning.

  • Design and deliver personalised lesson plans tailored to each learner’s specific academic goals and learning needs.
  • Provide engaging, age-appropriate instruction—especially in core subject areas such as English, Maths, and Science.
  • Complete and submit detailed session notes via our secure online system, enabling accurate progress tracking, quality monitoring, and payroll processing.
  • Adjust teaching approaches based on student feedback and progress, ensuring lessons are as effective and supportive as possible.
  • Maintain open, clear communication with families, schools, and our TPTUTORS consultants to ensure alignment and early issue resolution.

What We’re Looking For
We welcome a diverse range of educators, but are especially interested in candidates who bring the following:

  • A degree in Education, SEN, or a related subject area.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in teaching or tutoring—ideally within the UK education system.
  • A strong understanding of differentiated instruction and the ability to adapt lessons to suit varied learning styles.
  • SEN experience is highly valued, but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.

⏰ Working with Us – What You Can Expect

  • Flexible part-time roles – begin with 1 hour/week and increase your hours over time based on demand and availability.
  • Opportunities may be short- or long-term, with many placements extending over multiple academic years, especially when tied to EHCPs or school transitions.
  • You’ll have autonomy over your schedule, coordinating directly with families while also receiving support from our consultant team.

️ Getting Started – Requirements

To begin tutoring with TPTUTORS, you’ll need to complete the following steps:

  • Attend an initial Microsoft Teams meeting for introductions and onboarding.
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service – link provided; applicant covers cost.
  • Provide a 10-year work history and 2 references from the past 5 years.
  • Supply documents including:
    • Proof of Right to Work in the UK
    • Proof of current address
    • Any name change documentation
    • A professional headshot for your tutor profile
    • Overseas police check, if applicable
  • Complete safeguarding training (provided free of charge).

Why TPTUTORS?

By joining our team, you’re stepping into a role where your impact goes far beyond academics. You’ll:

  • Empower students to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
  • Help families navigate educational challenges with compassion and clarity.
  • Work with a supportive network of fellow educators and consultants.
  • Enjoy the flexibility to balance your passion for teaching with other commitments.
  • Be part of a mission-driven organisation that values equity, quality, and meaningful relationships.

Become a tutor with TPTUTORS—and be the reason a student believes in themselves again.
