1:1 Tutor (Home & School-Based) – Dudley Area

Location: Dudley and surrounding areas, West Midlands
Hours: School hours (typically 9:00am – 3:30pm)
Contract Type: Flexible, Part-Time and Full-Time Opportunities Available

About the Role

We are seeking experienced and dedicated 1:1 Tutors to support pupils in home and school settings across Dudley and the surrounding areas.

This rewarding role involves working with children and young people who may require additional educational support due to SEND, SEMH needs, medical conditions, school avoidance, exclusion, or other barriers to learning. Tutors will deliver tailored educational programmes that help pupils build confidence, develop key skills, and achieve positive academic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised one-to-one tuition sessions.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual pupil needs and learning objectives.
  • Support pupils in core subjects, including English, Maths, and Science.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, and other professionals.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and self-confidence.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and professional standards at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learner needs.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Access to reliable transport and willingness to travel within Dudley and surrounding areas.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working within alternative provision settings.
  • SEN training or relevant specialist qualifications.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
